About Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia

Have you ever felt unsure or anxious when visiting a new place—wondering where to park, which entrance to use, or whether you’ll be able to navigate the space comfortably? For individuals with disabilities, these concerns are often magnified, even when visiting a church—a place that should feel like home. That’s why accessibility information is so important. It provides clarity and reassurance by sharing what each parish currently offers, helping individuals and families plan their visit with confidence. Offering honest and detailed information reflects a commitment to welcome and inclusion, which is at the heart of the mission of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's Office for Persons with Disabilities.

The Office for Persons with Disabilities was established in 1991 and strives to proclaim the Gospel to all people through witness and proclamation to foster the full inclusion of people of all abilities into the life of the Church in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The Department serves as a pastoral resource for parishes, institutions, families and individuals in providing access and welcome to persons with disabilities.

The Deaf Apostolate provides pastoral care, sacramental preparation, religious education, and a regular schedule of Masses in American Sign Language with the Catholic community who are deaf or hard of hearing. Fostering faith formation and providing full access into the life of the church are the primary goals of the Apostolate. The Apostolate is supported in part by the Annual Catholic Charities Appeal, foundations and donations. The Deaf Apostolate serves over 900 families with Deaf members. Come join our Catholic Deaf Community.  Join us for our weekly Masses in ASL and the other activities that renew and enliven our Catholic faith.

What people are saying…

“"Jesus never waited for people to come to Him. He went to them, met them where they were, and made a way for them to belong. Accessibility is our way of following Jesus' example. By removing barriers, every person regardless of ability, knows they are seen, valued, and fully part of the Body of Christ." ”
