Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free with some slopes from William Street and Shapiro Walk.
    From Washington Road there are 4 steps, which are overcome by a ramp (9% gradient), to access Scudder Plaza.
    From Robertson Hall there are 8 steps, which are overcome by a ramp (7% gradient), to access Scudder Plaza.
  • Louis A. Simpson International Building has 4 external entrances, 3 of which provide step-free access.
    There are also step-free internal entrances from the Julis Romo Rabinowitz building on all levels except level B.
  • The William Street entrance has step-free level access, automatic doors and gives access to level A of the building.
  • The entrance off Shapiro Walk is accessed by a ramp (5% gradient) or 4 steps. It has automatic doors and gives access to level A.
  • There are 2 entrances off Scudder Plaza. One is accessed by 8 steps with handrails on both sides. The other has a ramp with a gradient of 8%. Both have automatic doors and give access to level 1.
  • The internal entrances from the Julis Romo Rabinowitz building have no doors and level access, except for the entrance on level 3 which has a ramp with a gradient of 2%.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free access via ramps to all areas of the building.
  • On level A, there are 3 steps with handrails both sides which are overcome by a ramp leading down from the William Street entrance to the Princeton In Africa, Princeton In Asia, Princeton In Latin America and International Internship Program reception, the elevator, Stairway 6, the front of room A71 and the link to the Julis Romo Rabinowitz building.
    There is also a ramp leading down from the Shapiro Walk entrance and the rear of A71 to the same area.
  • There is a ramp on level B leading up from the elevator and Stairway 6 to the rest of the level, including the restrooms.
  • On Level 2, there is a ramp to the right as you exit the elevator to the Industrial Relations Section.
    There is a similar ramp within the section up to the Economics Library Room.
    Level access to this room from the elevator is possible via the Julis Romo Rabinowitz building.
  • The floor surfaces along the majority of the circulation routes are stone tiles, although some are carpeted and one of the corridors on level B has a concrete floor.
