  • Worth Hall is made up of 6 small apartment blocks which are connected internally via corridors.
    It shares a courtyard with the Lodges.
    The blocks are named as Worth I, J, K, L, M and N.
  • Blocks I, J and K connect internally on Floors 1, 2 and 3 via narrow corridors and manual doors.
    Blocks K and L connect internally on Floors 2 and 3.
    Blocks M and N connect internally on Floors 2 and 3.

Getting Inside

  • The approach to Worth Hall is via steps or slopes of varying degrees of gradient.
    There are 11 unmarked steps with handrails on both sides on the approach from College Avenue to the building.
    The approach from one end of the courtyard is step-free via slope which has a gradient between 1.3%-3.3%. The approach from the other end of the courtyard is step-free via a slope with a gradient of 1%. The approach to blocks I, J and K is step-free via slope which has a gradient of 4.3%. The approach to blocks M and N is step-free via slope with a gradient of 3.3%.
  • There is stepped access to all areas of the building, apart from Floor 1 of block I which contains standard bedrooms and a communal standard bathroom and Floor 1 of block J which has step-free access to the communal facilities and restroom with accessibility features.
  • Worth Hall has 6 entrances, 2 entrances provide step-free access to Floor 1.
    Entrances K, L, M and N have sloped/ramped and stepped access.
    Entrance I gives step-free level access to the areas on Floor 1 of the Worth I accommodation block.
    Entrance J gives step-free access via ramp to the communal facilities on Floor 1 of the Worth J accommodation block.
    The entrances surveyed were the Worth I and J block entrances.
  • The entrances are signed as 'Worth I, J, K, L, M and N'.
  • The entrance surveyed at Worth I block gives step-free access to Floor 1 of the I accommodation block.
    This entrance has manual doors and key card access.
    All other floors in Worth I block have stepped access.
    The entrance surveyed at Worth J gives step-free access via ramp to Floor 1 of the J accommodation block which is where the communal facilities and restroom with adaptations are.
    This entrance has manual doors and key card access.
    There is stepped access to all other floors of Worth J Block.

Getting Around

  • There is stepped access to all floors of each block in Worth Hall, apart from Floor 1 of I and J block.
  • There are connections via internal link corridors on Floors 1, 2 and 3 of blocks I, J and K which have narrow walkways and manual doors in which some are permanently held open.
    To access Floor 1 of K block from Floor 1 of J block there are 5 steps with a handrail on the right going up. These are the same steps that are located after the K block external entrance.
  • K and L blocks connect internally on Floors 2 and 3.
    There are 5 steps located after the external entrance into L block.
    There are 4 steps on Floor 1 of L block to access room L100.
    There are 2 steps in the corridor of Floor 3 of L block to access rooms L302-L303, the communal standard bathroom and the link corridor to K block.
    There are 2 additional steps in the link corridor to Floor 3 of K block from Floor 3 of L block.
  • M and N blocks connect internally on Floors 2 and 3.
    There are 4 steps located after the external entrance of M block up to Floor 1.
    There are 9 steps on Floor 2 of M block to access Floor 2 of N block via a link corridor.
