About

  • The venue shares parking facilities.
  • The nearest parking lot is located next to entrance SC-9 of the Science Center; Whittier parking lot.

  • Science Center Café in Eldridge Commons is a small area located within the Science Center on floor 1.
  • The area contains a café and a seating area and breakout space.

Getting Inside

  • There are uneven slopes on route to SC-2.
  • SC-2 is an external entrance that enters into floor 1 externally to the building.
  • The entrance is level and has 2 sets of automatic doors.
  • There is a ramp from the main corridor of the Science Center into the Eldridge Commons with a gradient of 9.85%.
  • There is a link externally via a bridge with a ramp from SC-14 to entrance SC-15 which leads directly into the Eldridge Commons. SC-15 has a single manual door.
  • There are 5 steps on approach from the Cornell Library and rooms 104 and 105. These steps have handrails on each side and can be bypassed by the floors 0.0, 0.2, 1.0, 1.2 and 2.0 elevator.
  • The entrances SC-2, SC-15 are signed, other access routes are unsigned.

Entrance (SC-2)

Eating and Drinking

    • Science Center Café in Eldridge Commons is located just inside entrance SC-2 and near to both the 101 Chang Hou Lecture Theater and the Cornell Library.

    • This area has a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
    • Full table service is available on request only.

    • The seating area surveyed is located throughout the Eldridge Commons area.
    • The most accessible route to the seating area has step-free level access.
    • There is step-free level access throughout.
    • There is space for a wheelchair user to maneuver (60in x 60in - 1525mm x 1525mm).
    • Some flooring is shiny.
    • There is a high visual contrast between the walls and floor.
    • There is space for a service animal to rest.
    • There are chairs with armrests, chairs without armrests, bench seats, high stools and wide chairs with armrests in this area.
    • There are coffee tables, tables and high tables in this area.
    • There are some tables suitable for wheelchair users (between 28in and 34in - 710mm and 860mm from the floor).
