About

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via slopes with varying degrees of gradient.
  • Entrance to Hallowell Hall is via the Danawell Hall main entrance. There is step-free level access to all areas of the building, via the elevator in Danawell Hall.
  • In addition to the Danawell Hall main entrance, there are 4 internal and 1 outside entrances to Hallowell Hall.
    The outside entrance, HA-1, gives access to the end of the lower-level hallway.
    There is step-free level access to Hallowell Hall via single manual doors at all 4 internal entrances. These doors are permanently held open on the second and third floors.
  • The internal entrance on the lower level of Danawell Hall is signed as 'Hallowell'.
    The internal entrance on the first floor of Danawell Hall is signed with 'Welcome to Hallowell 1st'.
    The internal entrances inside Danawell Hall on the second and third floors are unsigned.
    The outside entrance is signed as HA-1.
  • All 4 internal entrances inside Danawell Hall give direct step-free level access to the corresponding floor of Hallowell Hall.
    There is no elevator within Hallowell Hall itself, but there is step-free level access to each internal entrance via the elevator in Danawell Hall.
  • The HA-1 entrance provides ramped/sloped access to the lower level of Hallowell Hall, via double manual doors.
    The HA-2 and HA-3 entrances provide step-free level access to the lower level of Hallowell Hall, via single manual doors. A physical key is required to enter the building through either of these entrances.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on all floors, and to all floors via the Danawell Hall elevator.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are comprised of shiny vinyl flooring, low-pile carpet and deep-pile carpet.
  • There are resting areas in circulation and lobby areas throughout the building with a mixture of seating.
  • Wayfinding signage is not provided within the building; however each room and facility is clearly signed on the door.
  • There is not a designated safe or quiet space.

Restrooms and Changing Facilities Available

  • Standard Restrooms View
    • Step-free male and female restrooms are located on the lower level, first floor and third floor.
    • Step-free gender inclusive restrooms are located on the second floor.
  • Shower Facilities View
    • Standard shower facilities are located within all standard restrooms on the lower level through the third floor.

Entrance (Danawell Hall Main Entrance)

  • This entrance is located at the front of Danawell Hall.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is a canopy or recess that provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is a key fob/card reader at a height of 3ft 11in (119cm).
  • There are double automatic doors at this entrance; however, one door is locked.
  • The doors open towards you.
  • There is a push plate/sensor at a height of 3ft 3in (100cm).
