About

  • East Pyne Hall is a square building with a central stone courtyard which contains the building entrances.
    There are large archways to access the courtyard to the east and west.
    The building consists of 6 levels.
  • There are 2 elevators and 4 stairways within the building.
  • The levels are signed as L, LR, 1, 1R, 2 and 3.
  • Chancellor Green is connected to East Pyne Hall on level 1R.

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free.
  • East Pyne Hall has 2 entrances, both of which provide step-free access to the north and south of the central courtyard.
    The north courtyard entrance provides step-free access (accessible entrance).
  • The north courtyard entrance provides step-free access to level 1 and direct access to the north elevator which provides step-free access to the L, LR, 1, 1R, 2 and 3 levels.
  • The south courtyard entrance provides step-free access to the south lift which provides access to levels L, LR, 1R, 2 and 3.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free access to the majority of the building via elevator.
    It is possible to bypass the majority of steps within the building but there are some ramps and steps to access some rooms on the third level and room 401.
  • On the third level there are 2 ramps along the east corridor from both the north and south corridors.
    These ramps access rooms 344-346 and the stairs to room 401.
  • On the second level there are 8 steps with handrails on both sides along the south corridor coming from both the north and south to access rooms 209 and 210.
    On the second level there are 9 steps with handrails on both sides along the north corridor coming from both the north and south to access rooms 237 and 238.
    Due to the presence of these steps, there is no step-free access between the north and south of the building on the second level. These steps can be bypassed.
    On the third level there are 4 steps with handrails on both sides along the south corridor coming from both the north and south to access rooms 312-314.
    On the third level there are 15 steps with handrails on both sides to access room 401.
  • There is no access between the north and south of the building on levels 1R, and 1.
    There is stepped only access between the north and south of the building on level 2.
    There is ramped or stepped access between the north and south of the building on level 3.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth with the majority of the corridors having shiny finish flooring.
  • There is a mixture of armchairs and bench seating in the lobby areas of the building.
  • There is written directorial signage located throughout the building and maps of the building on each level.

  • There are 8 restrooms with adaptations.
  • Restrooms with adaptations are located within the standard restroom areas on levels L, 1, 2 and 3.
  • Restrooms on levels 1 and 2 require a key card to access.
  • Step-free male and female restrooms are located along the west corridor on levels 1, 2 and 3.
  • Step-free male and female restrooms are located towards the west of the building on level L.

  • The external elevator control buttons have a low color contrast.
  • The external elevator controls are at a height that can be easily reached.
  • The elevator door has a high color contrast.
