About the Welcome Center
- The venue has its own parking facilities.
- View information on the Parking Garage (opens new tab) .
- If parking in the garage, visitors should use the level 2 exit next to the van-accessible spaces.
- After exiting, they should then turn left and access the Welcome Center in order to pass through security before starting the tour.
- This route is approximately 30 yards.
- The Welcome Center is the starting point for public tours of the New Jersey State House.

- In the lobby there is a security checkpoint where visitors need to pass through a magnetometer and have their belongings scanned through an x-ray machine.
- The opening width of the walk-through security scanner is 28 inches.
- Wheelchair users and anyone who cannot go through a magnetometer may receive a wand screening instead.
- There is a wider walk-through security scanner (32 inches) in the Security Building.
- The Welcome Center is on one level. This is equivalent to the sub-basement level of the State House Complex and level 2 of the adjacent parking garage.
- The Welcome Center is linked internally to the rest of the State House complex via the pedestrian tunnel on the basement level.
- There are ramps with slight gradients along the tunnel.
- Visitors on public tours will access the State House via this route.
- When tour groups are present, the Welcome Center can be noisy.

- The legislative chambers and committee rooms are equipped with built-in, ADA-compliant, FM-assisted listening devices for persons with hearing loss. Headsets and receivers are available when requested 24 hours in advance.
- CART, real-time reporting and sign language interpretation are available when requested 5 working days in advance.
- Large print versions of bills, resolutions and committee statements may be obtained from the Legislative Information and Bill Room (Room B-1 on the basement level of the State House Annex).
- Upon request, other publications can be reproduced in large print and some items can be transferred onto audio format as well.

Getting Inside
- The Welcome Center has one entrance that has step-free level access.
- The Welcome Center can also be accessed internally via the Executive State House elevator and the pedestrian tunnel on the basement level.
- However, this internal route would only apply if a visitor had been escorted by staff from the Security Building on West State Street.
- There are ramps along the basement level pedestrian tunnel with slight gradients.
