    • Monroe County Public Library (MCPL) is a large, 3-level 135,000-square-foot, modern facility in downtown Bloomington, near Indiana University, offering a wide range of services and resources beyond books.

Getting Around

  • The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: The first floor is accessible via ramp from the Kirkwood Ave. entrance.
  • The following areas have stepped access: the upper level of the Silent Reading Room on the second floor is accessible only by steps; however, the room's lower level has step-free access.

Elevator

  • The elevator is located on all floors in the center of the building.

Parent and Baby/Lactation Spaces - 1st Floor Children's Area, Multiple spaces

    • This section details the features found in the three spaces along the right hand wall of the Children's area of the library that are dedicated to babies and breastfeeding parents. These spaces are:
    • Dedicated Lactation Room (first door on right). The door is locked and users may request a key from the information desk in the Children's section.
    • Baby Space with screened-off nursing area (second door on right).
    • Two Parent and Caregiver Restrooms with diaper changing facilities and wall-mounted toddler safety seats with seatbelts (third and fourth doors on right).
